Rodrigo Carreto

The Portuguese tenor Rodrigo Carreto, a laureate of the Académie Le Jardin des Voix (2023/24), works regularly with Les Arts Florissants under William Christie and Paul Agnew. He has made notable debuts at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, Lincoln Center in New York, and the Royal Opera of Versailles, and has appeared at major festivals including Lucerne, Tanglewood, Lanaudière, and Toronto, among many others. 

Carreto was a  2021 Bach Young Soloist  with Collegium Vocale Gent under Philippe Herreweghe, with whom he toured extensively between 2021 and 2023. He has since established himself as one of the leading young interpreters of the Evangelist in Bach’s Passions and other sacred works.

In addition to his work with Les Arts Florissants, with whom he has toured productions such as The Fairy Queen, Monteverdi’s Vespers, among others, he sings regularly with Sébastien Daucé (Ensemble Correspondances) and with Václav Luks (Collegium 1704). In 2025 Rodrigo made his debut at the Drottningholm Royal Opera as Eurimedes in Telemann’s Orpheus under Francesco Corti, appeared as Adam in Mysliveček’s Adamo ed Eva with the Il Gardellino Orchestra (Peter Van Heyghen) in Palermo and other recent performances include Britten’s Folk Songs with the Münchner Symphoniker alongside Ustina Dubitsky, Mozart’s Requiem with the Gulbenkian Orchestra under Stephanie Childress, as well as with the Galician Symphony Orchestra conducted by Roberto González Monjas.

Rodrigo Carreto studied in Zurich with Scot Weir and continued his artistic development with Peter Harvey and Jeremy Ovenden.
